Cloud Infrastructure Engineer. Eight years running the AWS platform behind a major Japanese video streaming service.
I specialise in designing, building, and operating infrastructure on AWS. I've been the project lead for the platform behind a major Japanese video streaming service for about eight years.
The stack centres on ECS Fargate, Aurora, and CloudFront, serving a service with millions of users. Everything is managed in Terraform, with a strict no-manual-changes policy.
Traffic spikes are frequent in video streaming. I cover the full cycle — pre-scaling, cache strategy, day-to-day operations.
I started out in telecom — maintaining mobile base stations and managing wireless quality for a major Japanese carrier. From there I moved into AWS cloud infrastructure. Since 2018 I've worked primarily on a broadcaster-owned video streaming platform, with side projects including real-time streaming for a fitness chain, a medical/recruiting web media site, and public-sector systems. In 2023 I also led the infrastructure build for a payment site at a public infrastructure entity.
